Our June 10th meeting features Hull artist, John Marshall Dyke who gave us a
very informative watercolor demo. About 30 members and a few guests followed
every move as John took us through his presentation, with help from his friend,
Marie.
The Boston Light was John's subject and he explained his process as the watercolor was created. He does little drawing of his planned art, instead he "draws " with his brush as he develops his painting.
John gave us a little extra demo as he created a separate piece. He quickly dashed off several, random, wet on wet washes of color that were later turned into a loose still life of a bouquet of flowers by adding some carefully placed brush strokes. Very effective technique.
Norma Brown was the lucky winner of the demonstration artwork that John donated for a raffle...and one of our members was able to buy the small painting of the flowers. All in all, it was a very full afternoon of art for art lovers.
